What Happens After a Flooded Basement Is Dry?

The Work Begins When the Water Is Gone

Drying removes water and moisture but does not repair damaged finishes or building systems. Before reconstruction, qualified professionals should assess affected materials, framing, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. The rebuild plan should reflect documented damage and any remaining moisture or remediation needs.

Property ReVision helps Southeastern Wisconsin homeowners rebuild flooded basements after certified water remediation is complete. We manage demolition, structural repairs, finish replacement, sump-pump upgrades, and the entire design-build process under one roof.

Demolition and Damage Assessment

After the remediation team confirms the space is ready for rebuilding, the project team identifies which drywall, insulation, trim, flooring, and cabinetry need removal or replacement. The extent of demolition depends on the water source, exposure, material condition, and professional assessment.

After demolition, we inspect framing, concrete, electrical boxes, ductwork, and plumbing for hidden damage. If framing remains damp or shows signs of mold, we identify affected areas and recommend appropriate remediation before rebuilding. We do not provide certified mold remediation in-house, but we coordinate with specialists when necessary and document findings that may support your insurance claim.

Interior Rebuilding: Drywall, Insulation, Trim, and Finishes

Once framing and systems are sound, we rebuild the interior. New insulation is installed in exterior walls and rim joists to restore energy performance. Drywall is hung, taped, and finished. We prime and paint walls and ceilings.

Trim, doors, and cabinetry are replaced. Flooring options include luxury vinyl plank, tile, polished concrete, and moisture-resistant engineered products. We help you select materials that balance appearance, durability, maintenance, and water resistance.

If your basement included a bathroom, wet bar, kitchenette, or laundry area, we rebuild those spaces with updated fixtures, cabinets, countertops, and finishes. We coordinate plumbing, electrical, and finish work so every detail is completed in sequence.

Sump-Pump Installation and Waterproofing Improvements

Property ReVision can discuss adding or upgrading a sump pump as part of the reconstruction plan. Pump selection, backup power, and discharge routing should be evaluated for the home's conditions and the cause of the flooding.

Moisture prevention should address the cause of the flooding. Gutter drainage, downspouts, grading, and drainage systems may warrant specialist assessment. Property ReVision does not perform exterior excavation or foundation waterproofing and can recommend specialists when those services are needed.

Waterproofing improvements reduce risk but do not eliminate it. We explain what each upgrade accomplishes and help you make informed decisions based on your home's conditions and your budget.

Documentation and Insurance Coordination

We document demolition findings, structural damage, and system failures with photographs and written descriptions. This documentation may support your homeowner's insurance claim, though we do not file claims or negotiate with insurers on your behalf.

If your insurer requires itemized repair estimates, we provide a detailed project proposal that lists labor, materials, and costs. If your claim is approved, we coordinate the rebuild schedule with your adjuster's timeline. If your claim is denied or covers only part of the damage, we help you prioritize repairs within your available budget.

Design Choices That Fit How You Use the Space

Rebuilding after a flood is an opportunity to improve layout, storage, lighting, and function. If your basement served as a recreation room, home theater, guest suite, office, or gym, we design the rebuilt space around how your family uses it every day.

We create floor plans that improve traffic flow, add storage, and make the basement feel welcoming rather than utilitarian. We specify finishes, lighting, and built-ins that match your home's style and your long-term needs. Every design choice is made with your input, tracked in our CoConstruct project management software, and reflected in your updated budget.

The Rebuild Timeline and Process

Rebuilding timelines depend on the damage, project scope, material lead times, permits, and remediation readiness. Before construction, Property ReVision provides a free estimate, then prepares a detailed proposal, a 3D rendering, and a project-specific schedule.

Once construction begins, Property ReVision establishes a completion date. If work continues beyond that agreed date, the company pays the homeowner $100 per day.

Your Project Manager leads the construction team and provides regular updates through CoConstruct. You can track selections, schedule, budget, and correspondence in one place.

Why Southeastern Wisconsin Homeowners Choose Property ReVision

Property ReVision was founded in 2016 by Jason Schafer and Justin Bohler, two engineers who built the company around careful planning, clearer communication, and a more dependable remodeling process. We bring the same design-build approach to post-flood rebuilds that we use for kitchen renovations, basement finishing, and home additions.

We maintain an in-house team of designers, project managers, and carpenters, so one accountable team handles demolition, repairs, rebuilding, and finish work. We coordinate permits, document damage for insurance purposes, and explain each step in practical language.

Our work has been recognized with the 2026 BizTimes Future 50, the 2024 Inc. 5000, NARI Milwaukee Remodeler of the Year awards, Best of Houzz Service awards, and an Angi Super Service Award.
